Bayfield County, Wisconsin

Bayfield County is located along Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin. It is named for Henry Bayfield, a British Naval Officer and a surveyor.
The seat and largest city are both Washburn. The county was originally named La Pointe County.
Bayfield County borders Ashland, Sawyer, Washburn and Douglas Counties in Wisconsin, as well as Lake County, Minnesota.
Main highways through the county include US-2, US-63, WI-13 and WI-27.
